don't cross the bridge until you come to it

don't cross the bridge until you come to it is an English proverb which simply means - don't be concerned with future problems until you come face-to-face with them. but what if the bridge looks too scary to cross when you come to it? perhaps a better proverb would be "build safe bridges that you can cross when it's time to cross".
